Someone who knew what he/she was doing redid this old Luscomb some time ago. As far as I can see, this banjo has a new fretboard as the frets are new and the neck is perfectly straight. The geared tuners are all new, good quality and the tailpiece you recognize as later. The brackets and nuts are all original and the skin is in good condition. Those two wedges by the neck clamp are missing. The action is right for clawhammer. I chose to install wire strings as that looked like it was set up for and I like the sound but, of course, make it your own.
The head measures 10 1/2" and the scale is 26". It is a solid banjo and ready to play.
A special note: I've read about the "Little Gem" neck adjuster which this banjo has. I didn't touch it!!! I didn't want to screw anything up. It looks like a neat invention but not for me to toy with.
I've owned this banjo as an unstrung wall hanger for many years. I'm making an effort to move some of them along. This one was easy with just a bridge and string set. A lot of others need more work above my talent. If you are looking for a certain model to rejuvenate, please ask. Thanks, Paul
