I’m selling a few banjos on behalf of my friend, Patrick Taylor Grover. Taylor was the original banjo player for Foghorn Stringband and was, IMO, largely responsible for kick-starting the most recent wave of three-finger banjo playing in old-time circles. Great banjo player and great guy.
Here’s his description of this Bell Banjo:
“This is a Boucher style minstrel banjo that was built by Terry Bell in 2015. It is in near mint condition and has not been played very much at all. It has a highly figured curly maple neck that is stained dark brown, and the rim is of oak. The tuning pegs are extremely well fit and very smooth. It has a 3 and 1/2” deep rim which produces massive tone: loud and deep. The scale is 27”, and I’ve been tuning it dADF#A. Mr. Bell sells this figured maple model for $750 new. I’m asking $525 + $75 shipping.”
