Dating to the final year of Ode’s Baldwin era, this example offers a glimpse into a fascinating period of banjo building—after the Gibson heyday but before the modern era of high-end Masterclones, when manufacturers were experimenting with new woods, tonal systems, and designs. Positioned just below Ode’s premium Style D models, the Style C pairs a walnut neck with a maple pot, mahogany resonator, and brass flathead tone ring, producing a punchy, articulate sound with plenty of warmth and midrange. While it lacks the cosmetic flash of the Style D, this 6505 still features plenty of classic Ode appointments, including a fretboard inlay pattern clearly influenced by Gibson’s iconic Hearts and Flowers design.
