Up for sale is a truly unique piece of modern banjo history: a 2018 Robin Smith Heartland "Allegheny". To the best of my knowledge (and confirmed through shop provenance), this is the only "Allegheny" model Robin ever built, making it a 1-of-1 custom instrument. For anyone who knows the late Robin Smith’s work—whether from his custom necks for pre-war conversions, his work on Stealth and Kel Kroyden instruments, or his builds for players like Béla Fleck and Noam Pikelny—his craftsmanship needs no introduction.
The "Allegheny" was designed as a rich, pre-war style flathead mahogany build with exceptional responsiveness and punch.
*Select Mahogany neck and resonator
*Pot & Hardware: Full-weight Sullivan 20-hole flathead tone ring
*Wreath inlay pattern
Condition:Both the banjo and the included Superior Hardshell Case are in Excellent condition. The banjo has been meticulously cared for in a smoke-free environment. Minimal to no fret wear, tight seams, clean finish, and 100% structurally sound. Plays like a dream with straight neck geometry and smooth action. It doesn't appear that this banjo has been played very much since it was built new in 2018.
There are several videos on Youtube in which this banjo was played that will help you get an idea of its tone:
