A classic 11" Pisgah Possum with the persimmon tone ring. "A" Scale (24") 5 string banjo.

Maple neck and pot with walnut rim cap and persimmon tone ring

This banjo was sold as a "half-fretted" with a brass plate on the fingerboard up to the 7th fret. It has been converted to full fretted by removing the brass plate (which was installed over a regular slotted fretboard) and installing frets. The same fretwire Pisgah uses was used on the newly installed frets. The banjo could be reverted to half fretted by pulling the first 6 frets and reinstalling the brass plate which is included.

Features:

. 11" pot
. Persimmon tone ring
. Walnut rim cap
. Pisgah "Star" inlay in headstock
. Frailing scoop
. 24" scale
. Antique brass hardware and tuning machines
. Pisgah "Hawktail" tailpiece
. Original brass plate for "half-fretted" reconversion
. Pisgah branded John Balsch hide head
. Pisgah provided TKL hardshell case

This is a great banjo but I've found I prefer nylon strung instruments. I'm sure this one could be made /adjusted for nylon but this is also a "thinning the herd" sale.

The usual tarnishing on the brass tension hoop and a couple of small dings on the back of the neck. See pictures, ask questions, etc. Etc.

I ran the banjo through Pisgah's "build your own" site and with the case the price came out near $2500.

I'm Ukeman on eBay with 100% positive feedback since 1998.

I've also been selling at the Mt.Airy Fiddler's Convention for over 20 years.
