1928 Weymann type 1 plectrum banjo. Bought around 2001. Sold to me by Dick Lecther the current president at the time of the Rose City Banjoliers out of Portland Oregon. He was selling the banjo for a Ms Ruth Vanderhook the original purchaser and owner of the banjo, (see pictures). I am the second owner but my hands have become too stiff and playing now is difficult. It has 2 broken hooks. The original tuners are in the case compartment and they have been replaced by modern day tuners, there was no re-drilling of any kind, the new tuners fit perfectly. The worn areas on the back of the resonator are from a wooden stand that she kept the banjo on. Take note, this is a plectrum banjo, it has a long scale and thin neck; therefore most plectrum banjos have higher action than tenors. However it does have a neck tilt adjuster exclusive to the Weymann line that can almost eliminate high action. I played this with the action set as I received it (a little higher than I normally like) and it played fine. Some frets are worn and it could use a fret job. The photos are scans (not very good ones) of the originals that were supposedly donated to the Portland Historical Society. Strings have been loosened for shipping purposes. This is an old but still playable banjo. I have many more photos of this banjo, email me for them. I do not offer returns and this specific item cannot be returned. So examine all photos carefully and ask me any questions.
