1926 Gibson TB4 Conversion. 100 years old!
My late banjo teacher/luthier converted it back in 2004 with a Sullivan neck with and Sullivan ring. I bought it in 2004. It has model RR spikes to raise the 5th string in different keys. The neck finish has been sanded for a speed neck effect.
I had Steve Huber build and install his custom tone ring in 2019. Huber also changed out the head and bridge to his own products and set it up. I have a video of him discussing it. Prior to him working it over it wasn't as loud as I thought it should be, but he changed all that! It's loud and sounds amazing as a prewar should. It has the original resonator, rim, and tuners except for the 5th string which was added. The original neck, ball bearings and springs are not available.
BONUS: The late Ralph Stanley autographed the inside of the resonator in 2012, and it's still there.
I am selling because I recently obtained my late banjo teacher's '32 archtop. It comes in an old but solid case although I don't know it's age. More pictures available on request. Text me with questions or call... and it's available to test drive if you get into my area.
