This Imperial Electric is in wonderful original condition with these upgrades: the skin head was replaced by Spruce Tree Instruments in Madison, Wisconsin in 1982 with a great calf skin head; the tuners are old 'planets' probably replacing the old two-tab geared tuners in '82. Other than that, the overall banjo is in fantastic condition with a straight neck, good frets, great action, original hardware and no cracks or separations in the wood. It sounds as good as you would expect. I will ship it in a new Superior "bump" case.
As you all know, the Imperial Electrics from Vega are one step short of a Whyte Laydie with the scalloped tone ring, 28 brackets. and 10 15/16" head. The inlays are plain and there is no bracket band. So, it is a lighter than Whyte Laydie weight banjo preferred by many players.
