2021 era stimulus check purchase. A great option for those looking for a tubaphone style openback at a modest price point.
The original j-hooks were unfortunately junky and stripped one after another. Finally, I ended up replacing all the hooks with quality parts from Banjo Ben's store. Please note if you are expecting the Goldtone style j-hooks with the sealed nuts, those were trashed and, like mentioned, have been replaced.
No real issues with the banjo otherwise. Head was also replaced as the original was not quite the right color (banjo players are picky!) with a proper Renaissance head (high crown, FYI - per Goldtone spec). Comes with original case.
