This exceptional 1928 Gibson Style 4 archtop banjo captures the sound of the prewar era, blending power, clarity, and a touch of sweetness. Crafted from rich mahogany, it delivers a warm, resonant bluegrass tone. The original tenor neck is included (you can swap the necks and play Dixieland jazz or Irish traditional tunes), as well as a newer Gibson hardshell case. The Grover tuners are original to the banjo. Also included is a copy of the original 1928 bill of sale—a rare piece of provenance that connects it directly to its nearly century-old origins.
A beautifully executed reproduction neck by Frank Neat enhances playability while honoring the instrument’s vintage heritage. To hear the banjo being played, go to the "More Info" link.
