TB-4 #8428-22 dates to 1926, so it has the later ball-bearing-era features of a Mastertone block in the fingerboard instead of tiny individual letters in the peghead, and no holes in the tone ring skirt. This one is all there and original with the exception of a refinish to the back of the resonator only; there are a couple of splits to the inner ply of the resonator back. This one features all the correct stuff including two-piece armrest, Grover tuners with diamond-shaped gear housings, Presto tailpiece with the little feet, AND a pair of Christmas tree lights inside the pot as offered in the accessories section of prewar Gibson catalogs. The case is actually a prewar five-string/plectrum case, although in rough condition (the plies are separating on the lid and the bottom). This banjo sounds great as a tenor, with richness and volume I don't normally associate with ball-bearings.
