Rickard 5-string Open~Back Tubaphone - 2011 - EXC+/Walnut/Antiqued Brass/Tubaphone tone ring / 1-1/4”width at nut/12” pot/Original Hardcase
This banjo is a stunning example of early work by Rickard Banjos. This early prototype is too early to get the Rickard “Cyclone” tuners and has a set of Gotoh nickel tuners with black buttons. Walnut neck and rim. Antiqued brass hardware and tone ring. Ebony fretboard and frailing scoop. Gold EVO frets and a 25.5” scale length. I have the chrome armrest that it came with but have upgraded it with a perfectly matched Romero style walnut armrest crafted by Zach Hoyt which I will include in sale. Comes with original Superior deluxe hard case. Wonderful voice, perfect for various traditional styles of music, and would also feel right at home in an indie-folk context. The Tubaphone tone-ring gives this instrument a robust response, and offers plenty of volume for the stage or studio. A spectacular example of Bill’s craftsmanship.
