This is a 1991 (thanks to a helpful BHO’er for help with dating the serial!) Gibson RB-250 with Kulesh tonering and the original 'The Gibson' black hardshell case (more on the case below). This was the final year with the serial stamped on the back of the headstock (not in the rim) and this banjo was also made for export (as the Made in USA stamp shows). As the photos also show, the neck was broken and professionally repaired just below the handstop. At that time, the uneven poly finish was stripped off the neck and the resonator - and finished with beeswax. It's a beautiful feeling and wonderful playing/sounding banjo. The inside of the resonator is signed by some banjo luminaries.
Case Condition: This original Gibson TKL is pictured extensively in the photos. Much of the tolex was stripped by a troublesome youngster and subsequently replaced somewhat imperfectly. There are still a few tiny raw spots peeking through here and there. That said, from afar, the case looks new and is nearly new inside with dust cover and the combo code still has the red plastic in it. Close up, you can see the patches.
