This banjo can be setup as an openback or bluegrass. I have set it up both ways.
Sounds great as it is setup now for bluegrass.
Comes with a hard case which has some minimal surface wear and tear.
Lighter weight because it has a tone hoop on the rim rather than a heavy ring.
Also comes with two tailpieces, bluegrass and openback style.
Also comes with two plastic heads, white is on the banjo now. A clear head is included for an alternative sound.
Looks like the resonator and neck are mahogany.
