Hopkins Woodie 5 String Banjo in Excellent Condition with exception of a very thin "surface/finish" scratch (about 1/2 " in length) on lower back of resonator (about 2 inches from tail end of resonator)!
Hard Shell (Guardian) Case in Excellent Condition. ALL five (5) latches are fully functional and secure. The banjo is in a non-smoking home!
This banjo offers all of the traditional Hopkins qualities (e.g. GREAT sound, playability, excellent top quality workmanship and of course attention to detail)!
New Hopkins Woodie banjos have a retail value of $4,195!
The banjo has a beautiful walnut neck and resonator and an ebony fingerboard. It also has a Tony Pass Rim. It has virtually NO fretwear up the neck from Frets 3 thru 22. Only "very slight wear on Fret 2 under the G string" (i.e. typical standard/expected G String slide use). The chrome plated parts are all in very shiny condition with no tarnish. All inlays and bindings are intact. RR Spikes are installed on Frets 7, 9 and 10. The weight of the "Woodie" is 8.4 lbs with the resonator attached (i.e. much easier on a player's back).
My reason for selling is that I am 77 years old and have slowed down significantly in my playing. I have arthritic issues in my hands and frankly feel the need to downsize my herd at this point in my life.
I do love Hopkins banjos (I currently own two) but I have decided to sell one of them.
Thank You in advance for your interest and consideration in my beautiful Hopkins Woodie Banjo!
