Up for sale is a 1923 or 1924 tango banjo built by Lyon & Healy, marked their "Own Make" Style C. This is a simple but lovely instrument, intended to be strung like a mandolin but with 4 strings instead of 8. It was built for steel strings and holds up fine with them, but I have found that it sounds excellent with nylons too.
The banjo has an 11" maple rim (the outside is stained dark, but it's still maple) and has lots of real rosewood trim including a rosewood fretboard. It plays nicely all the way up the neck. The tailpiece, head and bridge are replaced but I believe everything else is original including the friction tuners. It comes with a modern gig bag.
