***SOLD!!!***

IMPORTANT UPDATE: Priced reduced to $2,450!

For your consideration is a circa-1979 Stelling White Star 5-string banjo in excellent condition.

For its age, this banjo is in excellent condition with a few caveats: 1) the flange and tension hoop show moderate to heavy tarnishing/pitting which is in keeping with a 43-year-old banjo (both tension hoop and flange have been cleaned and polished, however); 2) two small holes on the side of the neck have been repaired with hardwood dowel rod – the repair is fairly inconspicuous and does not affect playability; and 3) there are a few very light scratches and a shallow 1/2-inch long ‘buckle rash’ scratch on the back of the resonator (NOTE: these scratches were so slight as to be near impossible to photograph).

Okay, now the good stuff!... Other than what was previously noted, the wood finish is in remarkably great condition. Also, this White Star now sports stainless steel frets in a synthetic Ebonol fingerboard, and a new bone nut, both installed a couple of years ago at Geoff Stelling's shop, and as a result, the neck and fingerboard are true, and the frets still show absolutely no signs of playing wear. A Renaissance head and 5/8-inch maple-ebony Sosebee bridge grace the top of the pot assembly. And to truly top it off, a new set of 5-Star tuning pegs and a new Schaller geared-5th peg, all equipped with amber-colored buttons, tie the whole package together in this Bluegrass beast of a banjo.

Huh? Oh, yeah, almost forgot… The original hard-shell case (in very good condition) will accompany this banjo. The case exhibits no damage of note to either the interior or exterior, all latches are in good working order, and the carry handle is secure.

The former asking price of $2,850 has been REDUCED TO $2,450! Shipping is an additional $175 for US Postal Service (USPS) Priority Mail insured, and usually takes no more than 2 to 4 days depending on where in the contiguous United States you live. Oh, and sorry but, NO TRADES -- I'm trying to reduce the number of banjos I own.

Please contact me through The Banjo Hangout, and thanks for looking!
