Up for grabs is a totally original, completely mint condition 1981 Tokay T650R. This banjo is entirely complete, including the warranty card, hanging price tag, original tools, original strings (in case), original 5/8 bridge, original Pre-EPA Remo head and original instructional booklet on how to play the 5 string banjo in Japanese. This is one of the most complete Tokai/Gold Star type banjos you will find anywhere. It has spent its life in Japan until being recently acquired and brought into the United States. If you are looking for a collector grade banjo of this type, this is likely the best example you will ever find.
These banjos are built much like the sub-Mastertones of the 20s and 30s with a 1/4 Brass Hoop in place of an arch top or flathead tonering. The rim is 2 ply just like a Style 00, but don't let that fool you, this is a serious lightweight banjo for those looking for something a little easier open the shoulders. This is a pro-grade banjo in every respect and do not come up very often.
The pictures tell the rest of the story and a professional sound clip is available to any interested parties.
