I had to use the already used "clawgrass" term because that's what was played on this banjo! Played by a semi- professional for years in a old 'neo-folk' geezer group. They would try anything requested, whether they knew it or not. A Good Bunch, for sure.
Anyway, this 1964 PS-5 has been hot-rodded with Scruggs' tuners and the neck refinished to blond (ala an Excel). All the hardware is original and in nice shape; the head, strings, and bridge have been changed over the years. With the D-tuners and extra 3 frets, this is a very versatile instrument. That is a small separation at the heel next to the pot. The action is fantastic and the sound like that only a '60s Seeger can produce (replay the K3 with Dave Guard to jog your memory.) The case is original and in solid condition. And... it's BALANCED nicely-no wrecked wrists.
