Just a fantastic little banjo. Short scale is nice and comfy. This was listed a while back and snapped up fairly quickly after getting some attention on the banjohangout. It wound up in my hands and I'm only selling to fund a rare opportunity to buy back one of my old Gibson guitars.

I'm a big fan of the Gibson budget brands. The Oriole line was the first of the budget brands, introduced in 1925. With a FON of 8003-44 this is one of the earliest Orioles to leave the factory. The number is stamped in the rim (rare for an Oriole) and penciled on the heel side of the original tenor neck which is included with this sale.

Here's a video youtube.com/shorts/qW-YoUGYgnk...ure=share

The only thing I did to the banjo was replace the 5th string tuner which was a big improvement.

I consider this to be a "Pony" or "Ladies" banjo due to the specs:

Scale length is 22 and 3/4 inches
Rim is 1/2 inch and is 10 and1/2 inches wide.
3/4 inch brass hoop tone ring gives a nice Old-Time punch
Non original no knot tailpiece and1/2 inch bridge

The 5-string neck is 1 3/16 in. wide at the nut, and 1 7/8 in. at the heel. The neck is straight and frets are in fantastic condition. There is a shim in the neck and the action is low.

I can guarantee the hide head won't give you any issues. This is a high quality semi-translucent hide that is well mounted on a square flesh hoop. It's one of the strongest hides I've seen--we've had mucho humidity here and it hasn't moved a bit!

The hide gives this banjo a great old time tone. It's a great little clawhammer banjo, lightweight and easy to play. The neck is slim and comfortable and this banjo won't hurt for play time, it's just a neat and fun little jo to play. I wish I could keep it, and I'm not trying to make a dime on it. I just want pass it on so I can buy my git back!
