This is a professional banjolele hand made by luthier M.L. Neal. It is a popular, innovative design that provides the balanced tones and volume of a resonator banjolele with the lightness of an open back. The neck is hand carved maple with a cocobolo fingerboard, headplate, and heel cover. The neck profile is similar to a vintage Martin ukulele. The pot (body) is a high-end professional drum shell backed by a built-in flamed maple resonator. It is hand finished in shellac using French polish technique which provides the best possible sound and brings out the richness of the wood colors and grain. It has an 8" pot and tenor scale (17") and is set up with the best available hardware including Rickard nickel plated brass hooks, brackets, tension hoop, and tailpiece. The turners are Gotoh. It has a bone nut and custom bridge sized and weighted to the instrument. The action is set appropriately low for a banjolele, measuring approximately 1/32" at the first fret and 3/32" over the 12th fret. Fingerboard dots and matching side dots are paua abalone. The head is a Remo Renaissance. It has high-end Worth fluorocarbon strings. Comes with gig bag. Note that this has been used as a shop demonstrator and will therefore has insignificant evidence of use that doesn't affect the sound, playability, or expected longevity of the instrument. One such extremely shallow fingerboard scratch is pointed out in the photos. This is a great opportunity to get a professional grade banjolele hand built by a luthier at a low price.
