This is one beautiful intrument. Staghorn number 836 from 1978. The "Weatherby" of the banjo world. Metal and wood is very nice, finish is fantastic. Has aged incredibly well. Walnut, abalone, ebony. The flagship of the stelling line. This had a Tony Pass submerged maple block Lost Forest rim installed in 1981. The Lost Forest was not around long before Pass started the Thin Skirt Birch line. There are not a ton of these Maple ones around. I do not have the original rim. I doubt it's been apart since. It has one small spot on the resonator where the finish is crazed but you can't hardly see unless you're in a bright light. I tried to photo it but wasn't successful. All in all, an immaculate Stelling with original paperwork and original case. I put new tuners on it as the originals were really stiff and hardly usable. I'll include them. I will probably regret selling this but I can't play them all.
