For Sale - vintage 1970s Shilo Mahogany Mastertone Style 5 String Resonator Banjo with Liberty Banjo Co Tone Ring. Flying Eagle inlay mahogany neck. Schaller 2nd and 3rd string tuners. Banjo came to me with a thin multiply rim that I replaced with a three ply maple rim, unmarked and luthier thought it to be a Cooper an from her memory (it was in her available project parts bin for quite a while). Reso is the typical straight walled type seen in the 70's. 5 Star tension hoop, one piece flange, single leg arm rest, Waverly tailpiece. Ships in the Superior case pictured. Banjo is set up well, I am sure any buyer will have it set up to their own liking. Finish crazing on both back of neck and reso, some fret wear showing. My research suggests that this is a mid to late 1970s banjo made by a small Music Store owner with low production numbers using available parts of the time. I can't say if the tone Ring, Reso and neck were always together from new having little info to go by. It is a nice sounding and playing Mastertone copy.
