This banjo was purchased from the builder in late 2018. I play it regularly, but it is in excellent condition. It has a fantastic tone, and am only selling as I am seeking out a fretless or semi-fretless. I have not polished the raw brass hardware, as I prefer the natural aging look. Below is the description from Zach's website:
This banjo has a walnut rim, neck and armrest, with a curly walnut peghead overlay and an ebony fretboard. This banjo has a Renaissance head on a 12? block rim with a wood tone ring profile and a walnut rim cap. The scale length is 25-1/2? and the nut is 1-3/8? wide. The neck has a two way truss rod accessed from the heel, brass dots, EVO fret wire, Gotoh tuners and Corian nuts. I made the Van Eps style tension hoop and the dowel stick yoke, the tailpiece and head came from Smakula Fretted Instruments and the rest of the hardware came from Balsam Banjo Works. The finish is Tru Oil.
I have since added or made the following changes:
- John Balch walnut stained goat skin head with spiral flesh hoop (original Renaissance head will be provided as well)
- Brooks Banjos cast bronze tailpiece (original brass no-knot will be provided as well)
- Balsam Banjoworks 12" brass Dobson tone ring
