This banjo was bought from Jim Britton in 2017. It's extremely responsive and has the classic sweet mahogany tone.
The neck is a mahogany neck with RB-3 leaves and bows inlay. I was told that the neck was genuine Gibson. I had it speed necked with a clean matte finish, to match the rest of the neck, which was done by John Boulding. The resonator is a mahogany Huber with concentric rings and was a "factory second". The hardware is all Prucha with a pot metal tension hoop. The tone ring is out of Jerry Sloans latest batch, a 20 hole flat head ring. The rim is a Sullivan roasted maple block rim. Most know that block rims were "standard issue" into the mid 20's until the advent of the 3-ply maple rim. From my understanding the block rim was simply too labor intensive to continue with when the 3-ply came along. The only playing wear is shown on the head. Frets are in great shape as well.
This banjo has 5th string spikes at the 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th frets, and ships in a like new Guardian case. Videos can be sent at request.
Thanks for the interest!
