I bought this banjo from Clancy Mullins in 2019. I understand it’s a Gibson RB-100 (?) pot fitted with a new resonator and new maple neck made by Clancy. It has a brass tone hoop, single coordinator rod, and all new hardware.
The neck is slightly wider than a standard Mastertone, and is very comfortable. It looks like the fretboard is Macassar ebony, but I’m not sure about that. The inlay is simple snowflake, with spikes at the 7th and 9th. There is absolutely no fret wear.
This is a light banjo because of the absence of a tone ring, but plenty loud and clear up and down the neck. I played it only a few times, and had to quit because I developed chronic carpal syndrome in my right hand and my picking days are over.
The banjo comes in a new China-made Stagg hard-shell case with the attached strap, spare strings and bracket wrench. I can switch the “Gerry” engraved strap to a new Lacona if preferred.
