This is an antique A C Fairbanks Electric banjo, it has a 11 15/16 rim which features a scalloped tone ring both integrally spun over with nickel plated brass, it has a grooved tension hoop with 30 hooks and nuts, 5 of which are replacements made to look close to the original by reshaping Stew Mac Gibson style nuts and cutting the hooks to length.
The dowel has the maker's mark, the model name and serial number stamped into it surface 37 - -. The single screw neck tensioner is original.
The neck is deep red with a black fingerboard and fingerboard overlay, both with engraved and nicely coloured decoration and position markers.the tuner including button (knobs) are original. The scale length is 26 15/16" there are 17 frets there is a small amount of forward relief, the all Nylgut light strings are set at 1/8" above the 17 fret with a 1/2" bridge, this could be raised with higher bridge for claw hammer style.
The No knot tailpiece is well used and is probably the original.
No major damage or repairs, some minor bruising and dings and the brass is showing through the nickel particularly on the hook, nuts, shoes and tension hoop.
This banjo will be shipped in a new resonator tenor banjo case which is the best fit it will require a pad to raise the rim.
