Rare Gariepy 5 string banjo model 2, built by Art Gariepy in Long Beach California, circa late 1960s.
A great frailer, and for bluegrass it can peel the paint off the wall!
Cast aluminum rim with integral tone ring, dark stained mahogany neck and resonator.
If you’re familiar with this company you know how special these instruments are.
This particular banjo has had some monkeying done to it in the past, the rim has been drilled at the neck attachment and the headstock has been overdrilled for tuners, the tuners on now work fine and cover the holes. 2 extra holes drilled for D tuners. Thin profile neck. This is a heavy and substantial instrument despite the aluminum rim. Comes with the original (?) hard case.
