This is a very special instrument. A 19th century Buckbee 12" (not too common!) silverspun pot with a recent walnut neck by the esteemed Mr Brooks Masten.
- 25.5" scale
- Walnut neck with a scoop
- 1 3/8" at nut
- 2 1/16" at heel (wide!)
- 12" 1880s silverspun pot with 38 (!) hooks
It has a brass Fielding tailpiece and a Bart Veerman 'mystery wood' bridge.
At the moment it's strung with nylon strings, but I've usually had it strung with steel. Sounds good and has a tremendous plunk with both. Would be happy to restring it to your preference before shipping it out.
This was my main instrument for a number of years, and I've been putting off selling it because it's just fantastic. But I have no space in the house, so here we are.
This banjo made a couple brief appearances (being played very sloppily by me) in this documentary: youtube.com/watch?v=TK1EYJVa7QA
I'm based in Ireland, but am happy to ship world-wide. Shipping to the States is not as expensive as you might think, but to allay your fears I'll cover the shipping costs past the first €50.
