This is a nice vintage Gold Star - I believe an '84.
The original rim (and label) has been replaced by Warren Yates with one of his rims. Warren professionally assembled this banjo as well as putting a speed finish on the neck. The neck feels really great in particular - it has a great profile to it.
There is some patina, a small crack on the reso side-wall, slight wear on the arm-rest, and some slight signs of fret-wear.
Overall it is very well set up. Since it was fairly recently set-up by Warren Yates it plays very good. The rim has been very well fit to the neck. With the neck, the fret-board and inlays are very clean - and it is a fine example of the quality of the vintage Gold Stars. It has a significant amount of power to it, with the slightly warmer tone of a mahogany flat-head banjo.
It comes with the original hard-shell case, that has some wear, though is very stable and totally functional.
