Fairbanks’ classic scalloped tone ring was first introduced in the “Electric” model and later became the standard ring for the “Whyte Laydie” model as well. The diameter of the banjo head on this example is a comfortable 10 1/2” and the rim is 3/8” thick. 25 7/8” scale length, 28 hooks, engraved inlays, skin head, Elite tailpiece. Refretted with great setup and excellent playability. Bridge is a tad under 5/8” (about 19/32”), and the action is quite low. You could get away with a higher bridge if you preferred. Lovely banjo. Pure expressive classic fingerstyle tone with nylon strings. Works well for clawhammer style as well. Non-original hardshell case. Also for sale at Reverb with more photos (shop name is gweetarpicker).
