Custom Chuck Lee 5-String banjo (#687)
11" pot, 25.5" scale and fiber skin head.
Comes shipped in an Archtop hard case, it looks like there was an amateur tolex repair along the outside as shown, but there are no other issues with the case.
Pros
The banjo is fully functional, plays well, with plenty of life on the frets.
There are no issues with the neck, and the hidden truss rod funtions like it should.
The cons are cosmetic.
Cons
The neck looks refinished, the pot is not, its loaded with scratches, nicks, chips and dents. But there are no cracks or issues with the pot.
The dobson tone ring has some tarnish and the tension hook has, what I believe is brass, but coated in silver or nickel, the coating is coming off in a couple of spots.
Some of the hooks don't match, on the inside of the pot. one screw doesn't match and a washer is missing. Everything's fully functional but I'd probably replace them all down the road.
I got this info after tracking down the original owners online ad, it was built for him in 2015.
The neck is walnut finished natural, the maple rim has been stained black with a Dobson tone ring set on a brass hoop.
Prairieville headstock shape, Man in the moon inlay, Ebony overlay with Waverly tuners & ivoroid buttons, Madagascar ebony fretboard, and Dobson heel.
