The George Houghton & Sons company was based in the UK from the late 1800s to the early 1960s. They were well known for making instruments for vendors to put their own stamp on as the "makers" they also mass produced prototypes for other companies. This Banjo is a 5 string Zither, intended to bridge the gap between classical music and folk music. This instrument is in good shape for its age, with a bit of wear throughout. This banjo produces a sweet tone, and is a joy to play.
This Banjo is being kept in our humidity/temperature controlled retail space, The Fret Mill Music Co., located in Roanoke Virginia.
