This early 20th century Boston made Fairbanks senator No. 1 is in good original condition. Original engraved inlays are intact, all of the original hardware is present although there’s some wear to plating. The 10” cherry rim is spun over and under, and the original frets show only minor wear. Original tuners function, the button on the fifth string tuner may have been replaced. There are some repaired shrinkage cracks in the fretboard, extremely common on these banjos, and there’s one small chip missing after the last fret.
This banjo is currently setup with a Remo fiberskyn head and modern bridge, and plays well with a punchy attack unusual for a banjo this size.
This is a great example of a vintage Fairbanks banjo in good, complete players condition.
It will ship well packed in a Superior gig bag with a damaged zipper suitable for storage.
