I thought I would see if there is interest in my Whyte Laydie banjo.
This is an incredible banjo. From the stamped serial number, I believe the pot was completed in 1921. It is just shy of 11". The neck is a beautiful five string neck constructed by the late Wyatt Fawley. I'm not sure when the banjo was converted by Mr. Fawley as the previous owner commissioned the neck a few years before I purchased the banjo.
The inlay on the neck in beautifully etched and inked. It has small, vintage fret wire and no side dot markers on the neck. There is a capo spike at the 7th fret.
The banjo head was inked by me to reflect the design of the inlays. If the design on the head is not to your liking, it can easily be changed with a new head. The banjo is 7.2lbs.
It is in very good condition with only a few bumps and nicks from being my main teaching, recording, and gigging banjo for the past 5-6 years.
I never thought I would sell this instrument, but I gig standing for several hours and find that I am gravitating towards acquiring a lighter banjo with a smaller or wooden tone ring to save my back (carrying my two small children also adds to my back ache).
The banjo originally came with a vintage case that was retrofitted with more padding. I am happy to sell the banjo with that case or the hybrid soft-shell case I've been using for the last few years.
Here is a video review made for one of my students featuring the Whyte Laydie:

$2500 or best offer. Buyer pays shipping and insurance. I would also entertain trades for an Enoch, Ome, or Chuck Lee open back banjo of similar value.
