This fine banjo was called the "Professional Special" model in the Cole's Eclipse line. 11" head, 27" scale, and serial # 5863G.
Construction-wise, it represented the best that Cole could build at the time. Note the decorative laminations under the fretboard, engraved peghead inlay, and the backstrap. High-end, without being ostentatious. Minor signs of wear. All details are in pics and please feel free to ask questions. Plays ace all the way up the neck. Bracket anchoring the dowel base indicates a neck reset and seems professionally done.
Goatskin head. All original parts, sans bridge (I have the "Little Giant" regulator for it, which is not currently installed). Crazy clean for its age. Eclipse tone-ring, Aquila Nylgut strings, reminiscent me a bit of a White-Lady tone-ring type sound.
TKL case.
