For sale is Gibson Earl Scruggs banjo, serial number 125 manufactured in 1984. This is the Earl Scruggs model that includes Earls actual signature on the Gibson label inside the rim. Except for a new head and strings, all parts of this banjo are original as manufactured or installed by Gibson. All nickel plated metal parts are highly polished. The all original finish has some visible craquelure as is common for banjos of this vintage and with some of the original Gibson finishes. This particular banjo has an exceptional amount of highly figured maple. There is minimal, noticeable, but negligible fret wear. Fifth string spikes are located at frets 7, 9 and 10. The banjo has been played very little and has been stored in the Gibson hard shell case since it was new. A copy of Earl's set-up notes that were originally provided with these banjos is included. The case, also in mint condition, is included with the banjo. After reviewing prices here, I reduced the price to $4800. Thanks for looking.
