1974 Gibson RB250 Mastertone banjo for sale with case.
Excellent tone and playability. Very good condition, binding is all intact and in good condition, not showing any deterioration. 5th string spikes at 7,8,9 and 10. Frets are in good shape. Finish is excellent on neck and resonator. Nickel plating is all intact, although not shiny everywhere. Comes with Sullivan maple 3 ply rim (stained to match neck) and 20 hole nickel plated ring installed by Sullivan Banjo Co. The bridge is a Sullivan 5/8 factory floor old growth maple.
The original black multi-ply rim with sticker and the original lightweight tone ring are included with this banjo. The original rim was separating at the flange mount radius. Repairing it was an option but I got a new 3 ply rim instead of having the original repaired and also replaced the lightweight ring.
The case is ok, shows some wear but no damage.
I bought this banjo in 2020 from the original owner’s family and had the new rim and ring installed, expecting it to be my forever banjo. But I came across the right Stelling and now I haven’t played the Gibson in a couple years, so it’s time to say goodbye.
