Luscomb banjo patented in 1888 and made by Thomson and Odell for J.F. Luscomb.
It's a number 1 model with serial number 2458.
12 1/2 brass rim with a maple tone ring . A unique design and a great sounding instrument.
Original neck and finish. 27 1/2 inches scale, Low string action, frets in great condition.
New goatskin head, new bridge and Nylgut strings.
Before restoration this banjo had no hardware and no tuning pegs. I replaced the missing hardware with the same parts than the original from another Luscomb that I bought for parts many years ago. Eight tension hooks and two tension nut are different but with the same thread. There were also two small inlays missing, I used pearl from vintage inlays.
A rare and wonderful sounding instrument setup for playing and in great condition.
Superior hard-shell case included.
