May have been the first Starflower, dated 1975 before Stelling records start in 1976. The only mahogany Stelling until the redesigned pegged Crusader. Probably ebony fretboard.
When this came up on Ebay, I was at a Murphy Henry banjo camp and Geoff was there. He was considering buying it back.
This banjo had a bad batch of lacquer and was crazed. Geoff fixed them for the original owners for free, but wanted $700 to redo mine. I had it professionally stripped and redone in Ohio. Recent setup by Donnie Little.
Greg Deering was probably involved with this banjo in California. The Stelling/Deering banjo relationship ended in 1978. Geoff shuttered his company in Virginia in 2022.
I have email between a prior owner and Geoff from 2012 about this banjo.
This banjo has a great sound, I liked it better than my Earl Scruggs Gibson and so did Neil Abercrombie, a fine player in North Carolina.
Comes with strap and non-original older hard case.
Shipping $75 nationwide. Will be packed by FedEx. 14 day returns, buyer pays return shipping and no damage to the instrument.
