This nineteen year old Sullivan Greenbrier is a terrific professional grade modern bluegrass banjo at what I feel is a very attractive price.
This banjo has a traditional three ply maple rim. The resonator and neck are constructed out of some stunning curly maple that was finished in an elegant red sunburst comparable to a Gibson F-4 mandolin.
The fretboard is ebony, and has spikes installed at the 7th, 9th, and 10th frets.
All hardware on this banjo is nickel, including the Sullivan branded pancake tuners.
This banjo hasn’t been played very much but there are definitely some cosmetic imperfections, which I have done my best to photograph. The plating is not as shiny as it was when Eric Sullivan signed the interior of the resonator nineteen years ago. There’s a weird thing on the resonator with the grain of the wood at the 10 o’clock position that is purely cosmetic, but I want to point that out so any buyer is not surprised.
The frets were loose and the neck angle was steep when I acquired it. I had the Huber shop do a partial refret, secure the remaining frets, and reset the neck. It now plays and sounds excellent.
Comes shipped in the original AVS by TKL case, which has held up pretty well.
If you are interested in a Sullivan banjo, I am also selling a great sounding and playing 2011 Sullivan Vintage 35. There is an ad for that on banjo hangout as well.
Thanks for looking and feel free to reach out with any questions.
