Up for sale is a well-loved and broken-in 1929 TB3 conversion to a 5 string. This banjo features Factory Order Number (FON)
9440-15. I have played this particular banjo for a number of years out in public at band events and it always receives compliments. It mics incredibly well, and in jam sessions cuts and sustains with the best of them.
Important details:
- Original tenor neck and case included. Tenor neck is maple with standard, period correct staining, and Diamonds and Squares inlay patterns.
- 5 string neck made by Frank Neat over a decade ago. Color matched for stain and made of some beautifully figured curly maple. Robin Smith did some fret work on the neck shortly before he passed, and the frets remain in excellent condition with years of life left.
- All original pot assembly and hardware. Rim is uncut with original 40 hole archtop ring, and Mastertone label intact.
- Resonator features the right amount of "play wear" and all chalk/paint on the inside is still visible.
- Willing to ship in a newer hard case (price to be arranged) or meetup within reasonable distance from Northern Florida.
