I traded for this incredible banjo locally. I was told it previously belonged to a professional player who toured with Doyle Lawson. Unfortunately, I have forgotten his name. The banjo is in remarkable condition for an instrument that has been played on stage. There are indentations on the resonator that were difficult to photograph. Also, the rim is missing some finish where it was recut or scraped to improve the tone ring fit. I would characterize the tone ring fit as loose. There is a rosewood fretboard and the frets show modest wear. The banjo sounds incredible and tends to raise the eyebrows of people who play it. The tone is somewhat bright with a subtle blending of the notes. Less bright and clear sounding than all maple banjos. Brighter with reduced blending of notes than all mahogany banjos. Banjo is setup with a new Huber head and Huber .656” bridge with Crowe spacing. Comes with hard case in excellent condition.
