This is a Mead banjo I bought in the early 90's (??). It has a 26.25 scale length, cherry pot and mahogany neck. I thought the top was redwood but the color of the wood suggests a wide grained spruce. The instrument has a very sweet, quiet voice and makes an excellent practice instrument in an apartment or uncivilized areas that don't appreciate a glorious, plunky banjo. The banjo is number 61, the Terry Mead label has begun to peel off. It is an excellent traveler, too, as it is light and uneffected by weather.
