This is a left handed banjo.

This is a custom left-hand 5-string banjo that Iíve had for about 10 years. The tone ring is a 20 hole Flattop tone chamber that is probably an old Blaylock with no marking except ďBJĒ on the side (Iíll probably find out later itís worth millions!). The rim is a hard rock 3-ply maple rim with a one piece flange. The neck is straight and new and fits perfectly tight to the rim, the inlays are very nice. The tuners are planetary style with a Waverly 2 band 5th string tuner and ebony buttons. Every metal component of this banjo (except for the tension hooks ) is top quality plated brass including the armrest, the armrest has some wear from playing. The neck cross-section reminds me of a gold-tone, so it's a little thicker, but very easy to play.

Recently finished and installed a Recording King mahogany resonator on it, the original res was an Asian built item that did not fit over the flange, the flange just sat on top of the res. Also cut and installed a new nut which really helped the playability of the banjo. As a result this banjo now has a great sound to it, where originally it had kind of a hollow sound. Recently played it for my banjo teacher (Dick Brown) who noted the great change in the tone of the banjo, and said it was very improved from where it was.

For someone looking for a left-hand banjo that is the next step up from what they started with, this is a step in the right direction, you wonít be disappointed in this unit. If you are looking forward to upgrading your playing, this is a great "next step!" There are no name or markings on the banjo rim, so i cannot say it's a Gibson but it is built and sounds like one.

Iím asking $600.00 and think it is a great buy for someone looking for a little more in their next banjo, or a really great starter banjo. The banjo comes with a HSC, and I will throw in one of my tuners as well.

And it you are wondering why Iím selling this, itís a great banjo, but I have a new Prucha coming and I wonít be spending a lot of time on this one when it gets here.

Shoot me a note if you have any questions.
