Extremely rare all original. Gorgeous tone and crafted to the highest standards of banjo lutherie. One of the best sounding Plectrums bar none. Old Man Richelieu was a great innovator in banjo Lutherie. He retired from his first career at age 65 and then started Richelieu Banjos which he presided over for the next 30 years, an then left the company to his son. The artwork on this piece is just beautiful. The photos simply can't do it justice. But much more importantly, the tone is as sweet as it gets, and the playability, and fit and finish is second to none. It has some minor gold oxidation and a few scratches here and ther, but otherwise is in excellent condition. He made his own Rims and Tonerings that were proprietary and never matched by any other company. He was a player himself and a purist when it came to tone. Richilieu banjos are among the most beautiful and sought after modern Jazz banjos. This Ne Plus Ultra was his flagship Presentation Plectrum. To commission one of the remaining masters like Renee Karnes to build a presentation banjo of this quality would be upwards of $8,000. It's great American, Wisconsin craftsmanship at its ultimate. It just doesn't get any better than this for less than the price of a modern Production model. HSC
