11” custom banjo made by Bill West in Marshall, NC. 1 piece curly maple neck with matching block style pot. Bolivian Rosewood fingerboard with frailing scoop and new frets 1-4. Walnut trim including peghead, fingerboard binding, heel cap, and rim cap (cap has a few superficial scratches near heel). Mother of pearl bird inlays on peghead and positions 5 and 12 plus dot position markers. Pot has 22 brackets, whyte Laydie style tone ring, fiberskyn head, and Bart Veerman 5/8” mystery wood bridge.
This banjo has a fast neck and a sweet and clear tone suitable for clawhammer or finger style playing. It’s not a jam killer but has a wide range with plenty of volume and plunk when desired. The finish on the heel cap did not take well and there are a couple small scratches on the peghead (see pics) but otherwise this banjo looks, sounds, and plays beautifully.
Price includes used TKL case in good condition.
