I have a brand new Recording King RK-80 that I upgraded with a TP Schaeffer birch block rim that has the most growl that I have heard in any RK banjo. It really sounds awesome. I installed a new Remo USA head and Wadsworth bridge as well as a set of T-Brackets to replace the cheezy L-brackets that they come with. The T-Brackets really add a lot of stability to the banjo while allowing the block rim skirt to vibrate better. I also installed a new bone nut with the proper string spacing. 5th string spikes are installed at 7 and 9. This banjo has a sweetness up the neck rarely found on new banjos. The 4th string is strong too. The thing about the Scheaffer rims is that they get better and better the more they are played. I am blowing this one out the door at the bargain price of $1200.00 shipped to your door. Lifetime warranty is included as I am an RK dealer. This includes the Schaeffer rim as well.
