Antique 5-String UnMarked Banjo w/ Ornate Ebony fret-board on mahogany neck.
It is a spectacular 'Wall Hanger"
An educated guess is that it was made by Buckbee around 1885.
Written on the calf-skin head is : "Robert Eugene Gamble, Jr. Atlantic City, N.J."
Inlaid Mother-of-Pearl and metal-foil decoration.
Ninth fret is missing, as is the 'nut' or 'bridge' (?), and ALL of the tuning pegs.
Many of the details indicate that this was a 'high-end' model.
