In response to an ad in the classifieds here, I attempted to put a banjo together for a possible cash/trade. Someone beat me to the punch and therefore I thought I'd throw this out there, The engine for the banjo is a cut down Kel Kroyden rim with a tone ring that I got from Bob Rogers that he got off ebay. I have no idea of the manufacture but it is old and if I had to guess it looks like an unplated Ryan. Ryan finished out the inside of the rings real clean so that's my guess. Bob informed me before I purchased the ring that it had been dropped and I did have to tinker with it to get it to fit the rim but it does now. The metal is newer but used Prucha in good condition. It has a Chris Warner mahogany wreath neck if you are familiar with Chris' work you know the neck quality. It has an old re skinned resonator mahogany with rings. I'm not quite finished assembling it so not a clue on sound yet. But if this sounds like something you'd be interested in give me a shout. I"m trying to keep it priced very reasonable but it will be sold as described whenever it is ready. Since I was willing to do a trade originally, I would be tempted on a Martin HD28-V or F model mandolin i.e. Weber or Duff/cash your way. Thanks No pics until it's together.
